Last night was my first night at Rancho Indalo, the home of legendary Hollywood Swordmaster & Action-Actor Anthony De Longis, joining 9 other Graduates of the Australian Stunt Academy for an Advanced Stunt Training Course.
After a quick tour of the ranch we were straight into training, with Anthony & his assistant Kendall Wells taking us through an intensive “recap” of the basics of fights & swords, creating a solid foundation for the 2-week intensive training ahead of us.
After a solid afternoon in the sun it was a wrap & we were getting ready for our first night of the program – no less than a movie premiere at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood!
With only a days notice & having packed mainly training clothes apart from our (Taurus Awards formal wear for next weekend), we all managed to put together a decent look & off we went down to La La land to watch the film.
Tatara Samurai, is an epic Japanese tale of the blacksmiths of Tatara, directed by director Yoshinari Nishikori & shot on 35mm film, capturing the magnificent scenery of Japan’s Izumo landscape.
The screening was followed by a Q&A session with the cast & crew & then drinks & canapés outside the theatre, as you do! It was a great opportunity to meet some of the martial arts movie industry professionals & indeed an exciting & great start to our trip!
